About

What this is

A weekly researched, ad-free list of what's worth doing in Kansas City. It is for anyone in or near the city who wants to know what is on without wading through sponsored posts or a feed. It is free, and it has no ads and no accounts. It counts visits with Vercel's cookieless analytics, which sets no cookies, keeps nothing that identifies you, and loads from this site rather than anyone else's servers; nothing else is measured. Events you save stay in your own browser.

How it is made

Once a week a research job reads venue and organizer pages directly. A date and a venue are published only when they were read from the event's own page; when the job cannot cite one, the event is held back rather than guessed at. The rules it reads pages by are written down in the repository.

Every event shows when it was last verified, and the stamp under the site name says when the job last ran. If 9 days pass without a run, every page says so.

What don't-miss means

A don't-miss event is a one-off or a limited run that is worth going out of your way for. It is an editorial call, made by a model under written rules kept in the repository, and each one comes with a one-line reason. Recurring events are never flagged; they are listed under Always there instead.

Keyboard shortcuts

In the explorer, press / to jump to search, and Esc to clear it, then again to leave it.

The data

The full dataset is at /events.json. It is free to reuse; a link back is all that is asked. For language models and other readers, /llms.txt describes the site, the dataset, and how to cite it.

Wrong listing?

If a date, venue, or anything else is wrong, report a wrong listing on GitHub. Include the event, the page it links to, and what is wrong.

The code

The research job and this site are open source, in one repository on GitHub.
